Othello's iPod

In class we are reading Shakespeare's play Othello. Our job is to create a play list, as if the characters would of had Ipod's at this time, and think of songs that we think the character would of listened to. I'm choosing songs i think Othello would've listened to, because he is the main character. Othello believes he is being cheated on by his wife Desdemona. I imagine that Othello is experiencing many different types of emotion; sadness, anger, betrayal, etc. If i were in Othello's shoes I would listen to a lot of sad or depressing songs that I could relate to.

Four songs that I feel connect to the characters situation are "Do I" by Luke Bryan, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" by Taylor swift, "Tornado" by Little Big Town, and "Two Black Cadillacs" by Carrie Underwood.

"Do I" by Luke Bryan connects with Othello, because the song pretty much asks "Am I still good enough?" and I think Othello really wondered if he was good enough for Desdemona because he did everything for her and got cheated on in return.

"We are Never Ever Getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift realtes to Othello because nobody deseves to be cheated on and after Iago told him about Desdemona and Cassio, he wanted nothing to do with her.

Othello would listen to "Tornado" by Little Big Town because in the song they pretty much say "Treat me like im nothing, and I'll make you pay" and it's just a bada** song that realtes to how Othello felt about Desdemona.

"Two Black Cadillacs" by Carrie Underwood is the number one song i think othello would listen to. The song is about a spouse that cheats, and the one that got cheated on kills the one who cheated.
